7.2.2019 | City Council Meeting | Asheville

Event Details

When Where

The Banquet Hall of the U.S. Cellular Center
87 Haywood St.
Asheville, NC 28801

On Tuesday, July 2, at 5 p.m. the Asheville City Council will meet at the Banquet Hall of the U.S. Cellular Center (87 Haywood St, Asheville, NC 28801) to take public comment on a state-imposed law fundamentally changing how city residents elect their local leaders.  Passed in June 2018, the bill would bump the next elections from 2019 to 2020 and change elections from an at-large vote for all seven council members to one in which five are elected by districts.

This meeting is your chance to:

  •     find out where Council members stand and and different ways the city can move forward; and
  •     make your voices heard in favor of districts that work for Asheville residents.
