Democracy North Carolina owns and operates the state’s premier nonpartisan voter hotline: 888-OUR-VOTE (888-687-8683). Our hotline is available Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. throughout the year. Callers may ask questions about how to register to vote and cast a ballot in North Carolina or report voting problems.Â
SERVE AS A NORTH CAROLINA ELECTION PROTECTION HOTLINE VOLUNTEER
During election season, we recruit and train hotline volunteers. Hotline volunteers receive online training and answer calls via an online platform from their homes. Volunteers are required to:
- Have a law degree, be currently enrolled in law school, currently work as a paralegal, or have prior experience answering a nonpartisan voter hotline
- Have access to a computer with reliable internet access and a headset with a microphone
- Have basic computer/internet skills and the ability to troubleshoot problems
- Be able to attend a two-hour online training
- Be able to interact with voters in a calm, nonpartisan manner
