JOIN US: “Truth Tour” Educates Voters About Amendments

Following a September 2018 poll revealing North Carolinians know little about proposed constitutional amendments on the ballot this fall, a coalition of nonpartisan government watchdog groups is launching a statewide tour to help educate voters about the amendments and their harms.

The Tour’s 90-minute, town hall-style events feature presentations and Q&A with issue experts, resources for voter education, and ways attendees can volunteer to help their fellow voters learn more about the six proposed amendments.

The Tour will reach more than a dozen major cities and rural hubs across the state before Election Day (November 6). Additional stops include Boone (10/2), Brevard (10/16), Clayton (10/4), Fayetteville (10/18), Salisbury (9/27) and Winston-Salem (10/1).

“The proposed amendments on this fall’s ballot are far-reaching and misleading, and voters deserve to know what they’re really deciding,” said Tomas Lopez, Executive Director of Democracy North Carolina. “This tour seeks to meet voters where they are — and help them navigate how their votes will affect their access to working elections, impartial courts, the ballot itself, and much more.”
