Democracy NC Kicks Off Fair Maps “Days of Action” in September

Over the past several weeks, thousands of us called and emailed our lawmakers, and hundreds more attended the N.C. General Assembly’s public hearings on redistricting — with the vast majority demanding fair voting maps.

But legislative leaders didn’t care to listen. Instead, they submitted more partisan and racially-motivated maps to federal judges, drawn as part of a court order demanding they fix 2011 racial gerrymanders.

Starting this week, we’re fighting back by taking the fight for fair maps directly to their districts.

Democracy North Carolina and our partners are launching Fair Maps Days of Action, with events across the state to educate North Carolinians, collect stories and signatures, and connect with key constituents — all in favor of a fair maps and a better redistricting process.

By their blatant disregard for our voices, lawmakers have shown us how they really feel about us. Now it’s time for us to show them how we feel about their maps by taking the fight outside of the legislature and into our communities. Join us.
